Menu changes daily, but the gastric delights are truly numerous. If you reserve in advance you can enjoy Momofuku's legendary fried chicken - offered as the noodle bar’s sole large format meal. It feeds 4-8 people. the meal includes two whole fried chickens, one southern style and one Korean style, and it comes with mu shu pancakes, baby carrots, red ball radishes, bibb lettuce, four sauces and an herb basket. Guests are encouraged to eat as they please, from making wraps with the pancakes to eating the chicken straight-up. The southern style chicken is fried with a buttermilk and old bay batter. the korean style chicken is triple fried and served with a light spicy glaze.
We really love these outsized bagels, especially when they are hot. They have all the qualities of ideal bagels, often imitated by inferior bakeries. While the array of schmears you can get here is quite vast, we usually stick to butter or cream cheese, all the more to enjoy the tasty bagels au naturel.
Kossar's, opened in 1936, is a Lower East Side institution, and stands atop the field in NYC's hyper-competitive bagel wars. Fresh, delicious bagels of many varieties, with the proper blend of crispy exterior and chewy interior. The classic panoply of spreads and toppings also available. Kossar is also famous for its namesake bialys, another type of bread brought by immigrants from Poland. Renovation in 2015 freshened up the joint, but it maintains its old school charm, and although offering a much expanded menu has not led to a compromise in the quality of its signature products - the bagel and the bialy!
